Today at lunchtime we headed over the the Arboretum for some fresh air.
The flowers were so beautiful. A little peace is a wonderful thing.
Today was a grey day with an orangey hue.
Vinny got to do some painting. It was grey but not rainy at the moment so he was kind of happy about that.
Melvin mostly gets out in the autumn months but he said that this winter is more like October than January.
Bern is feeling the awesomeness of a day well spent outside and at the Morris Arboretum!
So we have a new friend in the group. His name is Mr. Nigel Murray and he is an English Troll.
He is fitting in very nicely at the house even though he is naked all of the time. Hey, it’s how he rolls in the forest.
Bantley took him to Morris Arboretum. It’s a local place we all like to go for some fresh air and natural beauty.
These two get along really well. Bantley gets along with most people and creatures. He doesn’t smile much but he’s always in good spirits 🙂
It’s almost Milkweed Pod Explosion season. You know what that means? Millions of wishes will be flying around just waiting to be made. It’s the Roomie’s favorite time of year! Mr. Nigel Murray seem skeptical but Bantley assured him after that first wish it’s addicting!
Until our next adventure!
I’ve been having a blast recently with all of the outside fun.
It was a little rainy and overcast for most of the day but I just couldn’t let it get in the way of my good day.
Peak Leaf/Color season has passed but there are still some good colors on the trees. We took to the Arboretum today.
It wasn’t too bad. I’m going to miss all of the color once Winter descends upon us but at least I have my memories to keep me feeling good! Can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow!
The trees are in full color now. The Roommie wanted to see if the milkweed pods were exploding yet and as luck had it they were.
They were all over the field. I think I saw her doing a little jig. It was kind of an awkward moment.
I snagged my Milkweed Seed and made my wish. I sure hope it comes true!
We went to the wheel pump house because it’s not far from the field of Milkweed Pods. It was a great lunchtime!
I can’t wait to see where we go tomorrow!
We got outside today. Sunny and about 65 degrees. It was a nice break from the rain.
Even Mick got out for some fresh air.
Ingrid was so happy. She’s been semi-hibernating all winter. Too cold for her.
A wonderful day at the Arboretum. It was a really quick trip but we are all hoping to get some forest time in this weekend.
No lie…it was an awesome day!
It’s still a bit cold in our part of the globe but we all got excited when we saw the flowers starting to bloom. It meant that Spring was springing!
Thad loved the daffodils!
Ingrid always loves going to the arboretum. It reminds her so much of Norway and the Fjords and forests.
Even with the cooler weather how could one not enjoy such an outing?
So much fun. I hope you get to go out and smell the flowers too!
What a wonderful weekend! Warm (upper 50’s) and without any snow or rain to drag down the warmth!
Home, Me and China went to the Arboretum for some “almost” spring fun. It was 58 degrees but windy so it felt colder but since the three of us are used to cold temps it didn’t faze us at all. The Roomies looked a little chilly though, lol.
There still plenty of snow laying about but we made the best of it. It’s melting pretty quickly. Just another sign that spring isn’t too far a way 🙂
There were plenty of places that had no snow. China is getting her Buddha Chant on here. I don’t think she knew I was taking her picture even though she looks like she’s posing for the camera. She really meditating. China’s deep like that!
We even got in some rock climbing. Homie is an old guy but he’s still got it!
I thought China being made of glass would shy away from the rock climbing but she was the first one to the top of the cave. You go girl!
It was a great weekend with friends!
Having been raised a Garden Gnome (even though I’m actually an Elf) I have a deep appreciation for all gardens.
I no longer live in the Garden but I’m lucky enough to have an arboretum near my home. It has indigenous plants as well as specialized gardens like the Japanese Buddha Garden.
The colors have been magnificent. Even in the decline of the season there is something majestic about the trees.
They are about to begin putting together the Christmas Train Display. I got to get a sneak preview of the buildings they are going to use this year.
I can’t wait for the complete display in December. The way the days are fading into one another I fear it will be December in a blink of an elf’s eye 😉
It turned out to be a beautiful weekend after all the rain that we’ve had the last several days.
The annual Scarecrow Festival is in full swing and there were some very cleaver entries this year.
It was marvelous to get out and explore the gardens.
Autumn has been fantastic this year and I can’t wait to come back here to do more exploring. So much still to see!
